Midsouth NAMA sponsors Agricenter’s Ag Day Student Art Contest + Exhibition

25 Jan 2018 1:49 PM | Anonymous

In recognition of National Ag Day, Midsouth NAMA is proud to partner with Agricenter’s Ag Day Student Art Contest & Exhibition.  This inaugural event is designed to celebrate the economic impact of agriculture, innovation in the industry and student artwork that illustrates the “Farm of the Future." The program will focus on raising awareness and increasing understanding of the ag industry with participating educators, students, businesses, community leaders and media in our community.

The “poster contest” has been a long-standing tradition with local schools, but in effort to bring more attention to the contest and its significance to the Agricenter’s mission of education, the contest will get an upgrade this year.  To be in step with the “Farm of the Future: How Agriculture Will Feed the World” theme, digital as well as physical art media will be accepted.  Categories include: drawing, painting, collage, photography, graphic design and short video.

The contest is open to students, 3rd to 12th grades, in Shelby and DeSoto County.  Entries will be due by March 9th and winners will be announced at the Agricenter’s Ag Day celebration on March 29th

The other exciting addition is the Ag Day celebration program, which will feature the TN Commissioner of Agriculture, a panel discussion with innovative ag companies and the student art contest awards ceremony. Following the program, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the partners and sponsors who will be on hand to showcase their company’s contributions and vision for the ag industry.

More details and invitations for the Ag Day celebration will be forthcoming.  Interested in becoming an exhibitor?  Please contact Margaret Oldham, head of Agricenter’s Development Committee:  901-351-2904 or mwoldham@comcast.net.
